About author

Doris is a down-to-earth person with a profound love for God. For over thirty years, she has dedicated herself to writing poetry, prayers, and dramatic works, including a modern-day dramatization of the Life of Job and a love song to God entitled, “I Love You More Than Love.”

Born and raised in Washington, DC, Doris grew up in a Christian home with six siblings, all of whom share her deep faith. She comes from a lineage of preachers and has embraced her role as a missionary for Jesus Christ, a calling foretold by her father, Reverend William Rudd, before she was born.

In the early 1990s, Doris received formal missions training and field preparation at Christians in Action (CIA) in Woodlake, CA, sponsored by Galilee Baptist Church in Suitland, MD, under the guidance of Reverend Dr. Eugene Weathers. It was at the CIA camp that Doris deepened her commitment to her faith and formed a unique bond with a one-eyed duck named Girtie. This special connection continues to inspire her to write a series of life lessons.

After more than 40 years of service in both the public and private sectors, Doris retired in the mid-2000s. During her retirement, she pursued further education, earning a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a master’s degree in Public Administration. A lifelong learner, she continues her studies at community colleges, focusing on boosting emotional intelligence in children and young people.

Doris cherishes nature and enjoys taking long walks. She loves reading the Bible, poetry, dancing, music, and watching real-life movies and plays. Engaging with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brings her immense joy, as does interacting with all children, young people, and the elderly. She has a growing interest in the aging process and seeks to benefit herself and others through this knowledge.

Living in Maryland with her loving husband Wayne, her biggest fan, Doris looks forward to writing more books for children and adults with a child-like heart.
